TradeFox offers a very powerful search engine with simple user access from the toolbar or advanced search where indexes can be selected to limit search to one or more themes, e.g. Customs, Defence, Transport. It also provides some additional search attributes to expand or limit the number of search hits.

The search system indexes all 15,000 internal and external URL topics including HTML, PDF, WORD, TEXT, and selected Database fields. Many of the Boolean operators can be included as free hand text, e.g. 'customs w/5 agreement' looks for topics containing agreement within 5 words to the left or right of customs.

It gives the user additional access to books they may not be familiar with allowing people to either use the Trade or Library Navigators to browse to topics, or a search or combination of search and browse to find all topics that may relate to specific research.

The search hits are presented much like a web search engine with the found topic summaries displayed in the left view that when clicked present the full topic in the right with all search criteria words or numbers highlighted.
